The little girl is sitting at a card table across from you and she laughs a bit, she has a massive butterfly mask that covers her face save her mouth, she has cards with butterfly backings. "Thank you for coming!"
She places down a card on the table, "I need you to win, my Arcana." And suddenly you are aware that you are sitting with her on some platform and the world she sits in seems to be crumbling only a yawning expanse of nothingness below.
"If we loose..." She holds out the card to you but you don't have time to take it before you wake up.
The Train is coming in on Karuta Island Train Station, it's the day before school starts so there are a lot of students around, you have a piece of paper with the same of your student residence building on it, after some looking around the sunny platform you can see a sign with the Crystal Stream Residence on it.
The Sign has no one with it and is painted in a bright cheery blue like a mountain lake in a children's drawing. There is a small sign in yellow paper stuck to it.
"Emergency! Will Return."

Koinu Juhi sighs as she drags a baggage carrier behind her with a few bits of luggage and boxes on it, pausing to look around at the other signs before rolling over to the Crystal Stream one and looking around, "Well.. This is an auspicious start.." She shrugs and leans against the roller looking around.
Tall and blond, it almost looks like she is an Exchange student from another country, though on close inspection one can see the hint of japanese features here and there, as well as if they heard her talk, she has no foreign accent..

Watanabe Miki wakes up with a slight jerk from the dream, evidently woken by the barely perceptible stopping of the train. She blinks twice as she glances around to see if anyone had noticed she'd nodded off, blushing slightly as if she'd done something wrong to drowse off on the long ride.
All the other students - and that's what most of the car seems to consist of, teenagers of various sizes and shapes - seem quite preoccupied with their own concerns, however, and her nap has gone unnoticed, at least as far as she can tell. She waits for the cabin to be half empty before she even tries to disembark, lifting her bag from the seat beside her - an unfriendly gesture, but one that had ensured she hadn't been too crowded on the trip - and using it almost as a shield in front of her, to avoid human contact until she's out of the train. Only then does she sling the bag over one shoulder, carrying the weight of her few belongings easily.
She keeps to the outskirts of the crowd, skulking like a red-haired shadow towards the sign that matches the slip of paper she's holding - but when she reaches it she pauses, looking distrustful, or perhaps just confused. She glances around, the bag slipping off her shoulder to dangle from gloved fingertips.
When the blonde girl speaks up Miki glances over at her, that same, rather suspicious expression on her face, but the little redhead shrugs noncommittally.

Taichi lights down from the train easily, takes his time looking around and then approaches the sign. The fifteen year old is as large as a fully grown man, and moves carefully so he doesn't bump into others as he walks across the platform. He hefts two large duffle bags with ease. ~Huh. Already worried about the grades here. Weird dreams...~
Coming up to the sign he puts the bags down and looks at the note. "Emergency? That doesn't sound good." He nods and smiles to the other students gathered around. "Any idea of what's going on, people?"

Norio will slide off of the train with his bag, the bad has a hard case that shines a silver colour as he pulls it along.
His black hair has bright blue steaks drawn into bit with a hair chalk pen, and he has on a black dress shirt with a black fishnet shirt under it. He has blue and black plaid pants with straps hanging here and there and a long chain that has some chibi horror movie characters on plastic keychains hanging from the belt itself.
Over his shoulder is an old worn camera bag, that he carries cupped under one arm. He gives everyone a big friendly smile, “Greetings Everyone,” he bows in an overly polite manner, “My family name is Miyamoto and my personal name is Norio, are you all looking for the Crystal Stream Student Residence? It is where I am suppose to be as well.”

Rai looks slightly distracted as he comes off the train, staring intently at the handheld device he is holding, a rolling suitcase pulled with the other. He is a tall young man with slightly disheveled hair, though well within the bounds of acceptable. His clothing looks much like a uniform would look, black pants and jacket with a white shirt underneath, just lacking the tie
He looks up a moment to spot the sign and makes his way over to join the others already there, giving a friendly nod that comes to a half-bow, finally tucking away the device in an inner pocket of his jacket "I am sure they won't be long"

Juuhi remains leaning against the cart as the others approach, looking them over carefully in a neutral manner as they come giving each a slight nod still leaning against the baggage roller. When Norio introduces himself she speaks up, "Koinu, Juuhi." She considers a moment, then shrugs mentally.. "If any of you like.." she shakes the roller drawing their attention to it, then grins, "And i hope its something important.. hate to think we got blown off for a smoke break." She is dressed much the same in her school uniform, albeit relaxed as a few buttons undone to make it a little more comfortable, plus a deep crimson bit of frilled wrist cuffs added on for added color..

Miki moves to the side a bit as more people - mostly boys it seems - join the cluster around the sign. She's seen what it reads - she doesn't have to keep it in sight to remember. So she ends up almost hiding in the shadow of the corner of the building; close enough to be part of the group, but just far enough away to discourage too much interaction
Setting her bag down at her feet she rises on her toes in a futile effort to see if there's an adult trying to buck the flow of the crowd and reach them. Instead she spots Norio's approach and her expression is openly skeptical as she looks him over and takes in his greeting. It isn't until Rai's arrival that she responds further, his short bow evidently prompting her to remember her manners and she gives a brief and slightly jerky bow in return to both boys. It doesn't seem to have jostled a name loose from the girl, however, and she stays in the partial shelter of her corner.

"Sato Taichi" he says to Miyamoto. "Yeah, I think we all are, but people aren't here to pick us up. I hope it's not a real problem, I didn't feel an earthquake or anything."
He nods at Sasaki's remark "I hope so, I don't know where the residence is and I hate navigating by road map."
Koinu's jab gets a short laugh from him. "I don't think so, the school is too classy for that I think?"
He glances at Watanabe and smiles to her but doesn't say anything, this girl looks a bit shy and prickly.

"Greetings." He says pleasantly to Rai, "You are going to be living at the same residence as the rest of us?"
He will smile at Juuhi, "Nice to meet you Koinu Juuhi-San. I hope whatever the emergency is it is nor terribly direr, the Residence burning down before we have moving in would seem a bad omen."
Norio is going to smile at Miki, despite her not telling him her name. "However Sato Taichi-San the school is not the residence, so the class of the school does not equal that of the residence."
He will put his bag aside and start to take out and old Camera, it may still take..film... "May I take pictures of people?"

Rai will give another small smile "I guess we are introducing ourselves, my name is Sasaki Rai, pleased to meet all of you.." He gives a dark little chuckle when Norio talks about the residence burning down "well it could be worse.. it could burn down while we live there.. at least if it happened now we could still live elsewhere..." His tone making it more then clear he's not exactly serious about it of course
"As the note says, they will be right back.. plus there may be others still coming from the train..."

Juuhi chuckles, "Well, if fire is the case, I'm glad my uncle lives in town, so I've got a back up.." she grins in an edged playful manner, "Not sure about all of you... How well can you wash dishes?" She looks about and opens up a corner of one of her boxes and pulls out a case of sodas, giving it a little shake so the glasses clink against each other and smiles, "Tempt any of ya..?" Then considers Norios request and grins, "Sure thing," then leans against the cart again.

Kohana sat playing with her tablet computer. She wasn't really fussed about looking out of the window at the countryside that the train was rapidly moving through. At least this train had wifi, she had once been on a really old train from the noughties that had no in-built wifi system and that was totally backwards. They might have well been in the Dark Ages.
The train gradually began to slow as it neared the station, Kohana new it was time to get her things. Flipping her tablet closed, Kohana got up and grabbed her bag, her suitcase was placed in the luggage section and she went to fetch that too. This school was certainly a little different to her previous place. She had visited the school's website, looked at some of the little videos in it and then went online to see if any of the students had anything to say about it.
Still she did not know what to expect, she had never been a boarding student before, her previous schools had always been close to her home. Now she was having to stay in a dorm. Should be interesting...as long as the dorm had wifi of course.
She got off the train it came to halt and looked around for what on earth to do and where to go. Some students were milling around a sign with a yellow post-it note stuck to it, "Emergency? Seriously?" she said a little bit annoyed at what was clearly going to be a delay.

Hayato had almost missed the train, barely making it to the station in time. Oversleeping is a specialty of his. Since arriving, however, he's been unable to sit still for long, trying to catch up with his friends and people he had yet to meet. When he comes across this group of people, however, his attention is drawn to the sign and he studies it in confusion. "Huh...what kind of an emergency could have happened?" he asks before realizing he was talking aloud and giving the others a smile. "Oh! Hi!"

Miki's manners are not the finest - but even she notices that everyone's identified themselves, even Rai, so she sighs and states her name for everyone else.
"Watanabe Miki," she says, looking at the others, then raising her eyebrows at the more recent arrivals. She's slipped phone out of her pocket and she scowls at the boys talking cheerfully of large emergencies. Hayato's question makes her snort softly, her voice high and slightly nasal and grating as she actually answers him.
"So far we've ruled out earthquake - volcano and tsunami too, by association. Haven't ruled out fire or personal disasters. Or smoke breaks, though the odds on that are pretty low."
She gives the two new arrivals a flat glance and sighs, then points to herself. "Watanabe Miki" she repeats for the latecomers, pointing to the other early arrivals in turn and reintroducing them for the two new faces.
"Saito Taichi," she points to the tall, broad-shouldered young man. "Koinu Juuhi," to the blonde girl. "Sasaki Rai," she points to the tousled haired young man, "and grandpa over there with the camera is Miyamoto Norio," she concludes with a wave of a gloved hand in the direction of the latter. Then she looks at the two arrivals and gives them a very obvious once-over as she asks in a flat, disinterested sounding voice, "who are you two?"

Taichi grins at the newcomers and nods when he's named. "Welcome to the gathering of the confused!" Good naturedly, he laughs at Miki's succinct summation. "We haven't ruled out asteroid impact or reverse vampires either."

Norio will bow to Rai, "Sasaki Rai-San." He will laugh at the the comment about the residence burning down. "I suppose all our things being in one piece is blessing."
"Family is good to be able to fall back on Koinu Juuhi-San. I have polished a glass or two in my time." He says with a smile, "Oh please." He says in reference to the soda.
He will than hold up his camera and takes some pictures of Juuhi, he takes tim to focus the lens and a bunch of other things that makes it seem like he is not working with a standard digital camera.
He will bow to Kohana and Hayato in greeting, he will laugh about being called Grandpa. "That would be me if anyone minds me taking pictures please let me know."
"Sato Taichi-San, do you mean vampires that make other people take their own blood or vampires that can only go out during the day?" Norio seems to be pretty excited about discussing the creepy. Then again he does have a Chibi Jason Vorhes next to a chibi girl in a white dress with long black hair who could be any number of creepy little girl from a horror movie hanging on his belt.

Rai chuckles a little again "On that reasoning, alien invasions and demons are still in the running for the cause as well". Smiling over to Juuhi "i would love one.. thank you very much juuhi-san"
He'll give the two new arrivals another small smile and bow "It is nice to see you both too... does anyone know how big the residence is? See if we have everyone or not.." He's figuring he's one of the oldest here,so at least trying to act somewhat responsible

Juuhi sets the drinks down, some Carbonated apple soda, which is pretty good really. "Great.. Now I'm considering getting all my stuff insured just in case." she smirks and leans back "Lets not forget, Drug deal gone wrong, Slenderman Visit, and sudden dinosaur resurrection. Im hoping its raptors. they are small, and cute." She grins wide and sips her own, "Or they could just be double parked... Though, that one is no fun to speculate at all."

Kohana will nod to Noria, "I wonder what the emergency could be? A post-it note on a sign kind of detracts from any urgency of the emergency," she looked around at the other students taking them, some of them were probably going to be her classmates so hopefully none of them were going to be jerks, "Being double parked is the ultimate in urban emergencies," she said in reply to Juuhi.

A woman with wavy black hair carrying a clip board will walk up, she has on a professional looking white blouse and a warm smile.  She sounds enthusiastic and friendly, he will take the sticky note down and pick up her sign. |

Hayato gives a slightly sheepish grin to Miki when he's chastised for not introducing himself. "Sorry about that. I'm Takanaka Hayato," is the spritely response, introducing himself to each of them in turn with a friendly wave. "I would suggest that vague yet menacing government agencies could also be suspect. Or lizardmen." When Norio's camera comes out, however, the teen's attention is immediately diverted away from pondering the nature of their guide's sudden emergency and to the device. "That's a really nice camera," he comments while trying to peer at it as Norio tries to use it. "Been saving up for one of those."
Unfortunately, he doesn't get to ask how Norio likes the camera because that's when Hino-chan shows up and his focus shifts to her. "Everything alright with the emergency?" he calls out, his question genuine.

Miki's eyebrows climb higher at Taichi's jests, but she just gives a brief snort at others continuing the joke - it's not that she doesn't have a sense of humour, she just doesn't find disasters inherently funny. Juuhi's comments manage to get a smile out of her - for a second, before she goes back to a disinterested scowl aimed at her phone.
She nods at Hayato when he introduces himself, then narrows her eyes at Kohana appearing to ignore Miki's efforts to bring the two up to speed.
In Miki's mind she'd been quite helpful and polite, so the snub offends her and she crosses her arms in a very closed posture. She gives Hayato a nod and says, "Takenaka Hayato. Nice to meet you." She slants a glare at Kohana and adds, "Princess Dracula," in a sarcastic manner, with no added comment about being glad to meet her.
If the redhead would've said anymore it's hard to say, because Hino-Chan arrives and Miki's scornful eye turns to look the woman over skeptically. She opens her mouth to comment - but Hayato's faster than her, so she lets his question speak for them both, even if her question would've been blunter.

"I think the daylight ones would be creepier, Miyamoto-san." He's picked up that this guy seems to creak when he moves.
He'd respond to the others, but the lady arriving seems to be in charge so he settles down.

"Maybe the Residence was abducted by alien demons." Norio says to Rai before the woman running things appears. Norio puts his camera back into the bad to have some of the soda, "This is very good thank you Koinu Juuhi-san." Norio bows to the woman when she appears, "Of course Hino-Chan." He says it seems he will drop the formal greetings if he's asked. "It was my grandfather's he was a photo journalist in the 80s." Norio says happily to Hayato, "Would you like to take a look Takanaka-San?" Miki's Princess Dracula commont makes Norio smile a little but she isn't adressing him so he doesn't say anything, actually she didn't address him at all when he introduce himself, he wonders if he did something incorrectly. "I do not know there is something terrifying about the invasion of something unclean into one's self, Sato Taichi-san, Ito Junji-Sama could make it work." He says fondly. |

Rai will greet the woman with a friendly smile and another half-bow, glad that the emergency wasnt so dire that she could not show up. "So do we have everyone hino-chan?" Looking around the small group
He'll grin a little bit "unless of course, we're being drafted to fight the alien demons..."

Juuhi makes a short bow to Hino as she approaches, "Ohayo Gozaimasu" (Formal Good morning, most formal from her so far) before picking up the leftover untouched sodas and slipping them into her pack again. She smirks at the others jokes, but remains quiet and listens.

Yep that must have been some emergency, Kohana thought as a completely unflustered woman came up to the carrying a clipboard. Either Hino Keimi was doing an excellent job for covering up over any worries about the so-called emergency or there hadn't really been an emergency. Maybe she had just gone to get a soda?
"Hello Hino-Chan, I hope you are doing well today," she'll say and get ready to follow along. She ignored the "Princess Dracula" comment by that strange girl, who liked vampires any more?

Hayato gives Miki a smile and a nod. "Thanks, Miki. It's great to meet you, too!" he says, leaning over to whisper to the other teen, quietly so as not to disrupt the others.
When Hino-chan explains the nature of her emergency, he frowns. Things are presumably okay for now, or she'd've headed home, obviously, but growing up with a doctor in the house, you can't miss the lesson that "for now" is a terribly fickle qualifier when someone has been sick for a long time. Hayato is lost in thought as he brings his stuff toward the van, pausing as he walks past their chaperon. "I hope your father gets well soon, Miss Hino-chan," he says before continuing into the vehicle.
