Amane's parents are typical office workers, some times she was left on her own for long periods of time, she began to take care of plants in the house to pass the time and entertain herself. When her mother had a second child a boy this time Amane was excited to help out. Making only a couple of friend Amane was a very shy girl, her parents own a small apartment so she has only been able to have a window box for a garden. Now she's excited to go to the dorms but also scared, she'll have her own room for the first time and hopefully a place for her Window Box flowers. She is a native to Karuta Island so her family won't be too far away, will they? |

Juhi's parents met while her father was working in the USA as a Corporate Adviser, her mother a secretary. A quite romance began which eventually rolled into full on Marriage. They moved back to Japan, and not long after Juhi was born. An independent little girl Juhi got her nickname for how she would cry and howl constantly as a little baby and toddler. Marked by her fair skin and blond hair she was bullied greatly in school with the teachers largely ignoring it, until she began to lash out in return. Quickly marked as a trouble maker and con artist, she started to take pride in the role, acting it out of school as much as in. Her parents were at their wits end, torn between their daughters actions, and the fact that she was being bullied without response. Luckily she had done nothing to acquire actual criminal charges, nor fallen in with any of the gangs, though perpetually frustrated as she was unable to make any solid lasting connections with others her age. Salvation has possibly come in the form of Tenjin Academy by suggestion and application of her Uncle who lives on Karuta Island, thus will be close by if need arise. |

Rai was raised in a single parent household as an only child, from an early age he's showed signs of an above-average intelligence, always being ahead of other kids his age in academics. Unlike most kids with an IQ like his, he develloped pretty well socially so he avoided the lonelyness many like him suffer in school. His mother is not a wealthy woman so it looked for a long time that he'd not be able to get into one of the country's better schools, until this chance came on his path, so he grabbed it with both hands. |

Kohana has been raised in a relatively good household. Her mother and father are happily married and she has a younger sister. Kohana started playing video games at an early age with her mother and used to play a lot with her sister but as she has grown up she started to play more online. Her grades have been generally good throughout her school time though noticeably in subjects she doesn't like Kohana's grades have begun to slip. Kohana has developed a temper problem whilst gaming, even going so far as to swat someone. This naturally got her in a lot of trouble her parents and the authorities, and led to her transfer to Tenjin Academy. |

Taichi was the third child born in his family, and the only son. He grew up with two sisters, both of whom he loved dearly. When kids at school picked on his sisters he rushed to their defense. He was in a lot of scraps before his parents put him into jujitsu classes to teach him some discipline. He took to it like a duck to water and soon branched out into other sports as well. He struggles a bit in more academic arenas but bulls through despite the challenge. He barely passed the entry exam and is very focused on his classes. His favorite times are just being with friends and his secret worry is hurting people. |

Miki lost most of her family when she was 8 - an earthquake destroyed their apartment building and they'd been buried in the rubble for 5 days before Miki and the bodies of her mother and little sister were unearthed. Her older brother's body was never found. Miki's father had been working late when the earthquake happened - a workaholic before the disaster he threw himself even deeper into his research, leaving Miki to the care of doctors and nurses, who cared for her physical injuries as best they could. Surgeons, physiotherapists and more; it took years of work to get her back on her feet. But now she is on those feet and attending a new school. She's a reasonably bright girl - it's allowed her to keep up with her studies enough that she hasn't slipped back grades despite her time in hospital, though she struggles at times. Her biggest problem is socialization - most of her social skills have either atrophied or not had much chance to develop normally and she's years behind her peers, though she does her best to hide it with an aloof facade. Note: Does not take gym class; has an exercise regimen she's supposed to do during that time period. |

Hayato grew up in a full house: Mom (a doctor), Dad (a computer programmer), his three-years-older brother, and himself. From a young age, Hayato showed a knack for finding ways to pull things apart to see how they work. He often felt like he was growing up in his brother's shadow, a distant second to the elder and more successful sibling. (This was far from the truth, and his parents went out of their way to encourage each of their sons to follow their own paths, but kids have skewed perspectives.) His brother was always his best friend, though, and the two would spend what free time they had hanging out. Hayato opted to distinguish himself by being the opposite of his brother. While his brother was studios and hard-working, Hayato would only hand in the minimum amount of homework necessary to pass the class. While his brother stressed over every exam, Hayato would read the textbooks because they interested him, but would prefer to spend his time in the workshop building things. While his brother would distance himself from his classmates so he could focus on getting into medical school, Hayato would go out of his way to make as many friends as he could. Perhaps it was the lack of pressure he put on himself, but Hayato was a quick learner of almost anything, especially if it was how things work. He sees his engineering as an art: A way to use math and physics in combination with physical media to create things that make people's lives easier or happier, even if just for a little while. He learns calculus and chemistry with the same mindset a poet learns the structure of language. Hayato will often build small contraptions or computer programs for his friends, family, and the occasional teacher. He can also do things like rewire a broken radio or repair a busted bike or the like, but that's not as interesting to him as creating. A lot of his inspiration comes from studying bigger systems such as nature and people, and he's taken up photography as a way to capture those things. |
